WRTO Malaysia 6th AGM & Election of Office Bearers
A Hybrid Gathering Marks a New Chapter for WRTO Malaysia
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – 12 July 2026
The World Research Travel Organization (WRTO) Malaysia successfully convened its 6th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 11 July 2026. The event was held in a hybrid format, allowing for maximum participation, with members gathering physically at De Moccis Boutique Hotel and virtually via Zoom.
The AGM was attended by 18 out of the 21 total members, reflecting strong engagement and commitment to the organization’s vision.
Election of Office Bearers (2026-2028)
In accordance with the WRTO Malaysia Constitution, the AGM was presided over by the appointed Speaker, YBhg. Dato’ Hoh Hee Lee, who facilitated the proceedings. The meeting also received the audited accounts from the Internal Auditor, Ms Wong Yin Ein, as per constitutional requirements.
The following members were duly elected to the WRTO Malaysia ExecutiveCommittee for the 2026–2028 term:
- President: YBhg. Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Dr Ng Yen Yen
- Deputy President: YBhg. Datuk Rashidi Hasbullah
- Committee Members:
o Mr Billy Leong
o YBhg. Dato’s Low Kok Thai
o Dr. Sarinder Kumari
Presidential Appointments
Following the elections, the President, YBhg. Tan Sri Dato’s Sri Dr Ng Yen Yen, announced the following key appointments to complete the leadership team:
- Secretary General: YBhg. Dato’s Azizan Noordin
- Treasurer General: Mr Goh Wei Sing
The President also established two strategic sub-committees to spearheadfocused initiatives, appointing the following heads:
- Students Tourism Sub-committee: Mr Abraham Liew
- Education and Research Sub-committee: Dr Wong Wun Bin
Strategic Agenda & Upcoming Events
The AGM also served as a strategic planning session, where members discussed a robust calendar of upcoming events and future plans designed to enhance regional cooperation and sustainable tourism:
- Collaboration with Zhouzhuang Tourism Promotion Board: Scheduled for 20 July 2026.
- Co-Organizer of the ASEAN-China Regional Cooperation & Development Forum 2026 (ACCD’26): Set to take place from 2-5 November 2026.
- Students Tourism Exchange Program: An initiative aimed at fostering educational and cultural exchange among students in the region.
- Promotion of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Program: A continued commitment to integrating sustainable practices and the SDG framework into all WRTO activities and member initiatives.
